Installing Git on Windows, as of June 2010

As of June 2010, there's no one-click installer of Git for Windows. Following this blog entry will get you:

  • msysgit, without its shell integration
  • TortoiseGit shell integration instead

msysgit's shell integration is nasty to uninstall, and if you do it wrong it'll pop up a dialog every 10 seconds.

Why I use Linux

I just realised that if I were to be involved in a conversation and asked about why I prefer Linux over, say, Windows, I wouldn't have a reasonable response. It'd be something along the lines of, "I just like it better." There must be more to it than that.
